B’s down wings 4-1

November 30th, 2008

For the first time in over 25 years the Bruins have a nine-game home winning streak. Last nights game was bitter sweet for me. I am a long-time Wings fan but definately a hard-core Bruins fan. I really wanted to see the Wings put up more of a fight, maybe it was all the injuries? Maybe it was the flight from Detroit? I bet it was just the plain old fact that the Bruins are the real deal this year. They are beating the top teams, they are scoring goals (everyone is helping out here) and they are playing with a new found energy that we have not seen in a long time. GO BRUINS!

Two huge hits, a fight and a point

November 28th, 2008

Lucic had a busy day today. 4:57 left in the first and a huge hit on Colliton then 2:55 left in the first and he bangs up Jackman in the corner. There was a bit of disagreement between Brick and Mike Milbury as far as the legality of the last one. Jackman was down on the ice for a moment.
Later on in the third, he tussles with Witt. Luch got a couple good shots in, including one to the jaw. No question who won that one. This seemed to set a theme for the next few moments as Hnidy locked up with Jackman. Hnidy left with a cut under his eye, but it was definitely a good bout.
Not only did he get the physical play going, Luch had an assist on Kessel’s goal in the third as well.
All of that was capped by 5 B’s goals in the third to put away NY 7-2.
Next up: DET. There may be two Lucic Crew guys there…

Four goals couldn’t do what one fight did

November 27th, 2008

Following Lucic’s pounding of former Bruin Nick Boynton, the crowd went absolutely nuts. We made noise for each goal, but the fight took the volume up a notch.

Here’s Lucic Crew exclusive pics and video of the fight 11/21/08 and the crowd reaction. Fan Reaction

Black and Blue in Buffalo

November 27th, 2008

Lucic has taken care of Gaustad early in the game. He’s got a few other big hits in the second, bringing him up to an NHL leading 90 hits on the season. Two big ones on I think Vanek? both times tossing him to the ice.
Lots of bodies flying around thanks to big hits by both teams. In addition we had Thornton taking care of Peters in the second.
Sadly, that’s about it for the B’s. Only one goal to Buffalo’s three after two periods. Hunwick is looking good offensively. How come he has more goals this season than Axelson?
Also, while she always looks good, Kathryn looks hot tonight!

Lucic’s Boston Punk rock connections

November 27th, 2008

Boston punk band Street Dogs played a small acoustic show at the Newbury Comics on the AutoMile. this past September. The frontman for the band is Mike McCoglan formerly of the Dropkick Murphys.
I wanted to wear my #17 t shirt to the show, so I dragged it out of the hamper. As I am waiting for the show to start, I feel someone tap me on the shoulder and say “Nice shirt, he’s the best player on the team.” Wanting to agree, I turn around and I see Mike walking past me to the stage! Knowing the band would be signing autographs after the show, I immediately thought to have Mike sign the shirt.
After the show (which was wicked good), I got in line to get an autograph. Mike signed the t shirt in addition to signing a poster with “To Nick, go Black and Gold!”. Toby Bean, lead guitarist, was sitting next to him, and asked me what player it was. When I told him who it was, he told me he had a story.
Toby was with Lenny Lashley of Darkbuster one night. He got a call from Scruffy Wallace, current bagpiper of the Dropkick Murphys telling him to save room for him and two of his friends. Well, Scruffy shows up and guess who one of his friends is? None other than Luch himself.
Longwinded story, but this kid is getting some high profile support here in Boston.

In case you haven’t seen it anywhere else, Friday night’s game’s theme is an “Ode To Slapshot”. Those who come early will get a Hanson brother style glasses.
Come out and support the B’s against the SouthEast Division cellar dwellar Panthers and the greatest hockey movie of all time.

Lucic vs. Komisarek (ole that!)

November 14th, 2008

Nice job Luch, you did us proud!
The big B’s forward then added insult to injury or maybe it was the other way around when he took on Canadiens defenseman Michael Komisarek in a fight that was over a year in the making.
We’ve had our battles in the past, said Lucic. It was just a matter of time until something like that happened.
After getting in a few good, hard punches, Lucic got Komisarek to the ice first. As the linesman pulled the two apart, the Black & Gold’s boxer channeled his inner wrestler when he headed for the penalty box to serve five minutes.

6 feet 3 and 228 pound freight train!

November 10th, 2008

Bruins defenseman Aaron Ward said Lucic creates a “lasting impression” on the other team’s defensemen and added that his teammates started to call Lucic “Moses” in the second period after “[he] parted the seas and the defenseman went for the front of the net and he just took the puck behind the net. Good for him if he’s creating a reputation for himself and guys think twice about going to get the puck. [It gives] more time for his linemates.”
