B’s Tear up the All Star game

January 25th, 2009

105.4 MPH

Chara broke the 16 year old Hardest Shot record Saturday night and won his third consecutive Hardest Shot contest recording a 105.4 MPH laser beam. The previous record was held by Al Iafrate at 105.2 in 1993.

Blake Wheeler also took home a new trophy. He was the MVP of the young stars game, netting 3 goals to lead the rookies over the sophmores. This kid has some mad skills.

Marc Savard finished second the Elimination Shootout behind Phoenix’s Shane Doan.

Who could forget Timmy, he came up with save after save.

Lets hope the trend continues and the B’s players can help lead the EAST to a victory tonight.

Timmy is the man

January 13th, 2009

I wanted to post this seperate from the 1/10 game review.  While waiting for players to leave we saw a few players leave.  Most waved (even Brick waved!),  Ryder signed an autograph for a fan who caught up with him at a red light as did Chara.  But it was Tim Thomas who stopped his Dodge Ram by the gate and signed autographs for a good five minutes or so.   This alone was a very fan friendly gesture, but on top of this – he had his family in the truck with him.

Thanks Timmy for being a fierce competitor as well as a great guy.

The NHL announced today that Boston Bruins Zdeno Chara, Marc Savard and Tim Thomas have been named to the Eastern Conference All-Star roster for the 2009 NHL All-Star game.

I’m glad they got Timmy on board, he deserves to be there.

So our Eastern team looks like this.
